What's up lately?
Sep. 26th, 2025 12:17 pm- This semester, I'm sitting in on some physics classes to take notes and be able to support those students, because this year's grant goal is physics tutoring hours and I'm the tutor who's not afraid of the math. On Tuesday, the topic in Mechanics was friction... and then whilst walking to my car to get lunch, I tripped over my shoe or a patch of sunlight or something and fell and did an accidental friction lab on my right knee. Did not tear the trousers, actually, but the trousers seem to have rubbed off a layer of skin. I guess at least that kept parking lot crud out of my knee.
- I'm crazy enough to be registered for the October LSAT, with eventual intent to turn my overanalyzer abilities and argumentativity to some account. Took a couple practice tests and made 163 and 171, and my undergrad GPA was decent, so once I wrangle the rest of the application packet (reference letters and "personal statement" i.e. "please teach me to argue in the way that helps people"), the schools that are logistically feasible (i.e. have online programs) are safety schools for me according to LSAC modeling. So I could actually end up as a lawyer...in like 2030, but hey, 2030 is scheduled to get here either way.
- Husband brought home some kind of crud (not COVID, he took a couple rapids over the course of it), has been a bit off for a couple weeks but finally climbing up out of it. I briefly had some of the same symptoms but beat it back in about two days, when colds had been hanging on to me pretty bad after having COVID (before I was one of those people who, when they catch a normal cold, have it for like a day). I really, really do think stacking valacyclovir and lysine is working... and am trying not to scream about the conclusion it suggests, that persistent virus had been doing whatever it wanted for a while.
- Cheese and crackers is a valid lunch. It's basically equivalent to a cheese sandwich, after all.
