If you use lime juice to turn Coke Zero into Coke Zero with Lime, it becomes health food bc the lime juice has vitamin C.
The thing is

What if I want to just learn different stuff

And totally don't mind helping other people learn stuff also

But not in a toxic, high-control assembly line system

And the problem is I still have bills

(i.e.: I think the Really Final FINAL Final draft of my master's thesis is the actual final draft, as it went to the graduate office today and from what I understand all they fiss about is formatting. So that means figuring out my life in general is no longer A Later Problem.)
Maybe my standards for "you know, yeah, this is OK" are a bit on the unfancy side, but, sticking around at an outdoor table after lunch (broccoli cheddar soup and a share of a big plate of nachos) to practice The Fine Art Of Taking Up space (knocking out portable work, which at the moment is thesis edits that are drop-dead due tomorrow, and stress testing the free tea refills)...yeah, this is OK.

And yes, of course, the safety side in the real world is more complicated than clicking a button, but it's not an intractable problem and it's not as if the status quo is risk-free either.

*these days, mainly Cities Skylines, either the first or the new one

**however, that day might be last week; there's still an active SimCity 4 community
Survived the presentation.

*falls over dead*

Wait a minute...

Actually, can't fall over dead yet bc have to do FINAL Final final edits tomorrow -- by Friday, but I really want to get them out of the way tomorrow -- so it can go to the Graduate Office to find out if they want REALLY FINAL Final final edits done in time.

And then like probably try to figure out having a future or something. Might apply for fed jobs I guess -- they have them that are both remote and technical enough for me to stand a chance of being any good at it -- though would need to scrub my social media first bc some of them are with the CDC and my opinion of the COVID response hasn't exactly been subtle plus sometimes I get cussy.
In the grand scheme of things, this isn't much, but: not even 8 PM and it feels like the middle of the night because it's after the jolt back to solar time.

And we do this to ourselves -- daylight savings time is completely invented, and if it's actually any good we could keep it all year, and what if we just designed society somewhat better in general? Like, for people?

We are in the 24 hour countdown to thesis defense.

I can do this, I swear I can do this, but...eeeeeek I feel ill...

Also what I need to do is fine-tune my presentation, so that's what I am doing, and if I were done with that I should be doing final edits on the thesis itself the FINAL final version of which is drop-dead due Friday, but what I want to do is Cities Skylines, play with yarn, or soak in a tub, and two out of three would be awesome. (TBH I am doing a row now and then of a sock swatch to keep from totally freaking out.)
